Why yes, Pettunia, there are horse saddles made out of quite a few different materials, especially in BCE era. Leather saddles are actually the latest type of saddle to be invented. The most irritating type of saddles were those made out of trees (minus the bark of course) because they caused a lot of skin irritation to the horses back. These types of saddles were basically experimented with by the Asians and the Romans. As long as you put a soft blanket or protective padding (such as lambswool) under the tree saddle, it wasn't quite so aggregious to the horse and did not cause saddle sores. Did you also know that from the earliest depictions, saddles became status symbols? To show off an individual's wealth and status, embellishments were added to saddles, including elaborate leatherwork, precious metals, jewels, and embroidery, making them very valuable. But upon doing some thinking and asking around, I think the grape skin type saddles were actually made by the Scythians around 700 to 800 BC. These were probably the least irritating type of saddle made for horses because the were so soft. The trick that was hard to accomplish to was get the grape skin as soft as possible but not let it turn into a raisin from overdrying the skin. I believe these are very antiquated collectors' items now and extremely rare to come across!! Plus they are extremely expensive and need no adornments, as they are the softest type of saddle to ever be invented and yet be so well preserved!! Excellent question posed here by the Queen of the Aunts, the answer of which I suppose is probably unknown by many people! ☺

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

Most people who attend craft shows are usually pretty crafty people (thus that is why they are attending). They will often look at products to steal ideas and rarely buy anything as they can "make it themselves."
If you want to really make some money at a craft fair / show, it is best to sell something that people will want RIGHT THEN. I would recommend food products as they will be eaten right there and then and have a much better chance of selling than items that are not needed urgently (like a necklace for example).
Best of luck.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.
