Visiting New york, plan to stay in Newark near Penn station?
Hi,
I am planning to visit NY with my family, is it safe to stay near the Penn Station in Newark. Thanks in advance.
If not, please advice of a decent place on the outskirts of NY, near a station

You dont want to stay in Newark. Trust me on this one, you dont want to stay there at all.
Your best bet would either to be in Jersey City or Hoboken for the PATH, or Iselin, NJ which is were Metro Park (for New Jersey Transit and Amtrak) is. The Hilton is walking distance and offers a free shuttle to the train station. As well as the Sheraton.

Yes it is. I stayed near there when I was visiting a friend who happened to live in Newark. I also stayed in Trenton, NJ close to the station there. I believe it is just called the Trenton Station, that was a decent place and near a lot of things.
