I need a detailed comparison between apple graphics and pc graphics?
in other words if i go buy the best graphics card i can for a pc will the mac be just as good or better? or can i just put a new graphics card in the mac?

From reading your question I suppose you have a Mac.
If you have a Mac Pro, you can easily buy a new Mac 8800GT from nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8800gt_for_ma... although it comes with a hefty price of almost $300. If you can't afford that, you can build a new PC (I'd recommend newegg.com for the parts) and you can get your stuff there. The 8800GT is the best card I know that is available for the Mac. If you build a new PC, you can get some really cool graphics cards such as the GeForce 8800 GTX and 9800 GX2, but the GeForce GTX 280 and Radeon 4870 come out on Tuesday.
In conclusion, I'd go with a PC if you want some powerful graphics.
