tailgating for detroit tigers game?

Will any of the lots on Woodward let you tailgate in there lots?

I see people drinking in the lots, but will they let you grill?

If not on Woodward, where else?

The designated place to tailgate for Lions games is Eastern Market, about 15 minutes west of the stadiums because it is closed on Sundays. No one will probably be there for a Tigers game and other than Miller Park in Milwaukee (great place to tailgate), I am not sure there is really tailgating for any baseball games anywhere besides drinking.

Some of the grass lots on Woodward may allow you, but forget the charcoal. The best thing to have is a Coleman grill that is portable and easy to use. My best guess is north of I75 on the west side of woodward.

There are also gravel lots behind the Fox Theatre area that may allow you to grill it up. This may be a negotiating point for you to pay them to enter their lot. There are too many parking options for them to say no.

Within the city there are rules about open flame grilling. I know in the lots adjacent to Comerica Park/ Ford Field it is generally not allowed (not to say it hasn't been done).

The parking lots on Russell off of Gratiot (Eastern Market area) allow grilling, but I have only tailgated there for Lion's games.
