What is wrong with my fish's name??

I had a cheap Beta fish that lasted me about 3 years. It was love at first sight, I saw him in the store swimming crazyily and then actually put him down and lost him. but I found him again. But I never had to feed the thing and rarely needed to clean his bowl but he lasted forever. and I loved him. His name was Master, Beta fish.

When he died, my girlfriend bought me a new fish to try to cheer me up (I really wasnt that sad, mroe relieved). But she liked the fish and called him Norman. I thought that "Lieutenant Shiny Sides" was a much more appropriate name for him. But she laughs, and so does everyone else, when I tell them what his name is. Do you think he is embarrassed for his name too ??

I think that name rocks. I had my betta fish named Buddy for a long time. Until my room mates would not let me. Then there was Sushi, Fillet, i think one was named Fish stick. You can have lots of fun with fish names. I had a cat fish name Stupid Fish, although we had to change his name as it was not really younger cousin proof. So he became Whiskers.

I tryed to name my cat (female) Pirate. Her name is now Meiko. Roommate again. I don't think with animals it is really the name that get them to pay attention to you, it is more the tone of voice.

But hey Norman is not so bad. Better then Newman (signfeild joke)

thats a cool name.... My Son won a goldfish at the CornFest last year & it's grown like a weed... we call it " Tarter~sauce" and it is the only fish in a tank of 15 with a name.

I am sure he would like it. It probably would make him feel of some high standard. I like Norman better and besides fish dont know that that is there name. They dont understand they dont care.

You want to know what though? I don't think he really gives a dam to be honest. Fish are one of those pets you could call him ****** or you could call him Ghandi and they really don't give a difference. They don't know anyways. I think your choice is certainly more creative, and if it makes you happy to call him Lt. Shiney Sides, then you go right ahead and do so and your gf can call him george as well. The Betta sure isn't going to care nor know it anyways.

Personally by what you mentioned above, I think you shouldn't be keeping fish.
