Why do you write the way you do?

I tend to write the way I talk ... but I'm not a great one for spelling and often make typos such as getting letters the wrong way round in a word. If I'm feeling lazy, I may cut things down a bit though.

I think most of it is lack of command of the english language, it's not unlike people who swear a lot, why?.I think it's because they don't know how to form a proper sentence so they substitute a swear word for the word they should use. Most people I know and some are well educated are poor spellers and writers. I have received emails from people who have a college education and you think that a 6 year old wrote the email, it flabbergasts me, what the reason is I don't know, when I point out that they have misspelled a simple word they just laugh and say , well I never was a good speller, just lazy I guess.

The cool thing is a big part of it. Kids try to set themselves apart with cute ways of spelling words. As a teacher what drives me nuts are the new fonts they create. Writing letters upside down and backwards is not cute. It is simply hard to read.

Another big reason is texting. It is like a new form of shorthand. I am a retard when it comes to texting and avoid it because I'm so slow, but there are many kids who write more on their cell phones than they do all day in school.

All of the above for the majority of folks.

However, there could be a very small few who are learning disabled or don't know how to type. I know for people who "hunt and peck" for letters on the keyboard, it is difficult for them to type and look at what they are typing at the same time. If they then are lazy, they might not proofread the screen...

I think it is because it is easier and quicker

If I write incorrectly, it's usually a typo. My friends call me, "Grammar Nazi" because I even correct them when I use messengers. My mistakes usually from me forgetting English rules.

It bothers me wHeN pEoPlE tYpE lIkE tHiS. I dislike when people say, "wut" or such.
