do you have to be totally mad to see a psychiatrist?

am goin to see one next week but i feel like i am wasting their time and they arethere for people with really bad problems, is that true? i suffere from depression and im a cutter but i dont think its as bad as it should b to see a shrink, what du think am i wasting their time?

    Don't be afraid. I know it's hard seeking help with things like this, but there's no shame in it.

    You're not wasting anyone's time. Your health and well-being are every bit as important as anyone else's, and you *deserve* to feel better.. and that's that.

    Psychiatrists see people with a full range of problems. You are not wasting his or her time at all. Your psychiatrist will talk to you about your depression and cutting and what solutions you can work on together to keep you from cutting yourself. As I'm sure you know, cutting is a very dangerous habit to get into, but your psychiatrist will work on different techniques to deal with the stress that leads to your cutting.

    NO to your question. Psychiatrists are there to help people. You should not leave until something is serious to get help. Go soon, you are not wasting anyone's time.
