public wifi offered by the city is ten miles away, how do I connect to it??

    You cannot. WiFi technology doesnt allow this for this large distance. Even Wireless n (802.11n) cannot match this range. New technologies such as LTE and WIMAX are slowly appearing. More information here: http://www.intel.com/technology/wimax/?cid=cim:ggl...

    You don't. The limit on normal wifi is 150 feet in good conditions. Any community wifi is normally comprised of either one high power transmitter with a range of a few miles (3 or 4 if you are lucky), or multiple lower power units with standard range. Once outside their coverage area there is nothing.

    you cant connect to a WIFI that is that far away.
