What is the difference between glossy paper and matte paper?

I am seeking to print a picture that is 20x30 and then frame it later. They have asked me if I would like glossy or matte paper. Which one is better for the job?

    Matte is not glossy.

it depends on the subject of the picture. If it's a photo, then glossy would be best. If it's art, probably matte would make it look like more like art.

Glossy is shinier... the kind that glares in the light. If you don't want a glare, if you just want a flat picture with no shine, then get matte.

Glossy is shiny. Matte is flat with no shine. I prefer matte finish, but choose whichever you prefer.

Glossy has a tighter surface, not as porous as matte. Its shinier for that reason.

Details are sharper in one form. Not much difference unless you intend to keep it for years.
