How can I get an ordinance or law passed in my city to either ban pit bulls or make people have 6 foot fences?

I think maybe not a complete ban , but a law saying if you have one you need to muzzle it if it is outside or have a six foot fence? I want to make this happen, because I just moved and found out my neighbor has a pit bull they tie to their tree out back. It barks and growls whenever we come outside, and if it got loose it could hurt or kill my toddlers.

You could try but nothing will probably happen. As long as the dog is chained up in his own yard not much you can do. Maybe you need to put up a 6 ft privacy fence. I understand your worried about your toddlers, and I'm sorry, because I don't like them either.

I don't see this happening. There is no data to support that idea that a pit bull is inherently more dangerous than any other breed of dog. Without something to establish that pit bulls are a threat, I can't see you having much luck getting a restrictive law placed upon them.

You are probably fighting a losing battle, it would be to your advantage to fence your own yard and save the expense of trying to make them adapt to you, as you said you just moved in.~
