'97 Jaguar XJ6?

I can get my learners permit at the end of July and I found a '97 Jaguar XJ6 with 60,000 miles for about $10,000. I was wondering how good this car was. Will it last long? Does it break down a lot? Does it get good gas mileage? Is it a good car for a new driver?

Jaguars have a bad reputation going back to the first ones that came home after World War II. they had many electrical problems that were hard to diagnose.

they are very expensive to own and repair.

    the reliability is very poor.

they have a running joke: something like "you should own 2 Jags so that you have something to drive while the other one is in the repair shop"

they are not a good first car.

    for $4,000 look for

98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00
