How do I teach my Shepherd-Labrador to bring a ball back to me once she chases after it?

We start with tossing it really close and when they pick it up giving a combo "come, bring it" command. We slowly throw it farther out as they get it. We also lose the "come" as they learn what "bring it" means.

Some people start farther out with a ball on a string. Either way will work.

    Good luck!

You teach her what you WANT first. You don't throw the ball without having her on a lead - toss it out a little ways and when she picks it up encourage her to come back to you and when she does, give her a treat and take the ball... she always gets a treat when she brings it to you. She doesn't know inherently that you want her to bring it back so expecting her to is foolish. TRAIN her first. BTW, doesn't make any difference what breed or mix she is dear.

U can always throw the ball and then when she has it in her mouth, hold up a treat and have her come to u with the ball in her mouth and then give her the treat once she brings the ball back.
