how long does it take for a bank to draw up a bankers draft?

    yeah I used to get them when they were free and not at least £10! they just printed them while I was waiting, no time at all really.

    One of my accounts is savings one with no cheque book, it was the only account I had at the time and they started charging £10 for bankers drafts, same thing happened to my mam but by then I had a current account with a cheque book so she just got me to write cheques for her.

    It depends on your bank. At the bank i work for some accounts have no counter facilities so they have to order bankers drafts in advance over the phone or on the internet and they are posted to you. Your best bet would be to contact your bank and ask them first.

    You don't get charged if the account the draft is coming from doesn't have a cheque facility on it, like a savings account with a passbook.
