What is mange?

It's a parasite that gets under their skin that cases severe itching and hair loss.

There are to types--don't know the correct name for them, one is very treatable, the other one is referred to--at least in this area, as blood mange, which means the infection got into the blood stream. This mange is not cureable but can be treated and controlled in some dogs.

We ahd a pit puppy several months ago, he started to loss hair, turned out, his mom was being treated for blood mange when she became pregnant and they had to stop the treatments, it was passed onto the pups! Most dogs that carry the blood mange, it is highly advised for them to be fixed so they can't have pups. We had to have our little pup put down, it was just to bad.

From what I remember about mange, its a parasite infection that causes severe hair loss in dogs. Its cause by a defective immune system.

mange in dogs can be:demodex(it does not cause any problem, until the dogs immune system weakens)

Sarcoptic mange is a different type:highly contagious for animals and for people too.It is a mite, that burrows under the skin.
