Why not look at a topic to do with the elderly - how the worlds population is aging because of baby boomers and look at: 1) How much support they could get 2) Whether they should stay in their homes as long as possible, or be put into nursing care 3) If the state should pay for their care or if they should pay their own way 4) Look and see what contributions they have made to society and if they deserve a higher level of respect and care because of what they have lived through 5) Look at improvements in health care and decide if you think the retirement age should be raised so that people have to work longer before they can get a pension 6) Any other ideas that you can think of that are maybe a bit controversial that are included - like assisted suicides and voluntary euthanasia for the elderly who want to end their own lives May give you some ideas - or you could choose something a bit more simpler like some of the great dog debate: 1) Should all dogs that are not going to be breeding dogs be desexed - for health and behavioural issues 2) Should anyone wanting to breed dogs have to have a licence and learn about genetics? 3) Should all dog owners have to sit a test before they can have a dog? 4) Should dogs like pit bulls which have a higher incident rate of biting being banned and desexed so that the breed will die out? Information about a lot of this stuff can be found through the SPCA or Humane Society. Have think about other things that are "easy" to argue about and you will come up with a topic. Good luck
