Is this why I haven't received my tax rebate?

I haven't received my tax rebate yet, & it was supposed to be by direct deposit last month. I filed it online, turned it in on time & owed taxes. Do i need to mail in Form 8453-OL to receive an IRS stimulus check, & is that why I haven't gotten it yet? It's just a form that needs a signature cuz I didn't have tax info from the year b4, & I haven't sent it yet because I don't have a working printer. Any other guesses why I haven't gotten it if that's not the reason?

Update:

I filed right around April 14-15, if that makes any difference for the DD delay. But where does it say that I'm supposed to receive a check? I know I picked DD & I had the right account # cuz it clearly took my taxes right out of it. If so, then I'm not scheduled to get a check yet. But all i see is this on the website:

"Be sure to choose direct deposit when you file your tax return, even if you aren't due a regular tax refund on your tax return. That way, the stimulus payment will go right to your bank account. Otherwise, we'll mail you a check."

When did you file? The schedule only applies if you filed early enough for your return to be PROCESSED by April 15th. An e-filed return filed after about April 3rd or so would be on time, but too late for the first round of rebates.

Technically a return without a signature is an unfiled return. The IRS hasn't been pushing the issue with the 8453-OL forms however I expect that they will at some point. Get it in the mail ASAP.

You didn't use Direct Deposit since you didn't get a refund. You used Direct Debit. Same initials, very different meaning. You'll get a paper check in the mail since the IRS cannot use Direct Debit account details to pay the rebates.

You said you owed money. Even if you had it taken directly from your account, that doesn't give you direct deposit of your rebate, you'll get a paper check.

The other possibility is that you filed too late for your return to be processed by the 4/15 cutoff to make the first round of stimulus payments. If you filed on or very near to 4/15 that's probably what happened, and you'll get your check mailed to you after this first round finishes in a few more weeks.

Not having sent back the 8453 isn't likely to hold up your rebate, but will impact whether you can efile next year, so sign it and send it in.

If you owed taxes, you are going to get a paper check. Not direct deposit. You need to refer to the paper check schedule on IRS website.

But it is possible the IRS has not even processed your return because of missing 8453...which would mean your rebate clock hasn't even started ticking yet.
