How can you make a large magnetic disk that you can change the polarity of?

Either positive, negitive, or neutral on the opposite sides of the disk. I was thinking of how we could make a disk that could be launched and skipped off of other planets elctromagetic fields. I wonder if making a machine that functioned like an atom would work?

Get a large piece of iorn and wrap insulated electrical wire around it. The put a current through the wire. You will have an electric magnet. You can change the polarity by reversing the flow of electricity. The bigger the iorn and the wire the stronger the magnet.

Just like the big magnets at the car junk yard
