dog swallowed pen ink?
i just found my Wheaten Terrier behind the couch along with a freshly chew pen and pencil
the pen was a papermate, and the tip is missing and the inside ink looks cracked, so it seems she may have swallowed some ink
the pencil was a number 2 dixon ticonderoga (idk if that matters, im just trying to put out info) and half of it is missing (inside and out)
please let me know whether or not i should worry, and what i should do
thank you!

Make sure your dog drinks plenty of water to help flush his system and watch him. He should be fine, but it is always best to keep an eye on him. It is not uncommon for dogs to eat things that are not edible, and their digestive systems can handle more than some might think. Usually the dog doesn't consume as much as someone worries.

Put pens and pencils in a safe place. My dog has chewed off the tips of them but they are on the floor later (the tips). She hasn't eatten any of them.

well if your dog consumed part of a pencil then yea I'd worry alil. chances are he or she could end up just passing it in their poop. but the fact that there is lead and or ink involved could lead to poisoning. Just watch her, check her poop altho that sounds gross to see if you find any traces of the pencil in it. and also watch that she isn't vomiting. if she starts vomiting or having really bad diarrhea or won't eat at all then i would set up a vet appointment.

She should be alright, pencil's are made with graphite now which is NOT poison like lead. Ink has no poisonous qualities.
