Oblivion Elder scrolls IV XBOX 360 Selling Strange behavior?
I'm at level 23 and almost done with all quests except for a few.
Problem: I noticed this for a while. Whenever I'm selling items (not stolen ones, just regular items) I have noticed for atleast for the last 8 levels or so, that my sell price for all items is limited to 600 gold . Even with he merchants where my disposition is at 100. And even if my haggle with that merchant (for e.g at Randir's staffs , or Best defense at imperial city) says buy at 137% sell at 80%. For e.g one item says it's original value is 3500 gold. But when I try to sell to these merchants , it's value is limited to 600 gold. 80% of 3500 gold is not 600. Doesn't make any sense. So almost all my items I end up selling for 600. So in a way I don't get any advantage selling it to one merchant with lesser disposition and haggle value Vs other with higher disposition and haggle value!!! Doesn't seem like a glitch to me.
Am I doing something wrong here. I'm almost done with all quests and played for 100's of hours.
Thanks for all the answers. Damn I really suck. Even selling for a long time for such cheap prices I managed to save 130,000 gold. man, if I've only sold it for better prices. Well. in a way, I don't know what I can do with 130,000 gold I have. Even after charging all my enchanted weapons, buying homes and all that , I'm lefrt with that much money.

Lol....hundreds of hours and you haven't noticed?
K, heres the problem. Every merchant has a set amount of gold, that is the limit in which they can buy from you, even if the item is the Dragon Armor itself.
For example, one shop keeper has a gold limit of 1000. If you try to sell ONE rare item, the maximum she can buy it is 1000. You can see their gold capacity somewhere below all the items, the gold amount that doesn't seem to fit prices, your amount of gold, or anything else you can make sense.
Now, heres something funny. Lets say you have 30 items, totaling 5000. You try to sell them all, she will say she can't buy it. But if you sell, say, 6 of them for 900, she'll buy them, and then again and again. At intervals of 6, as long as it doesn't exceed 1000, she'll buy several of one item, but if its only one item, she won't go over her limit.
You can bump this up by raising your mercantile skill(Bit by bit with each level of expertise), and at master, you can bump their limit a whole 500, but you have to pay for it.
The best merchant is the one the Imperial City in that enchanting store, she only comes with the Frost Spire add on, however. But she has 2000 gold ready, and her level of mercantile is so low you can sell anything to her at a high price, not to mention she keeps nearly everything you ever sell to her(Which CAN cause lag if you sell a lot to her).

A lot of the merchants have maximum gold carried amounts. I know they usually hover between 500 and 1000 gold.
To sell the more expensive stuff, make your way all the way to the top of the Thieves guild and sell all your stuff to their fencers.
