    1800 1900 900 850 phones that operate in all these frequencies are called quad band and they are also world phones. (most motorollas most sony ericksons and smartphones like blackberry )

    the ones that work with just 2 are dual band (usually the cheap phones)

    3= triband (most nokias)

    if you are traveling look up the frequencies for the company that you will be using and see if it matches your phone...this should give you the best service.

    850,900,1800,1900, 2100 and more. The most common are the first four.
