I have an XBox, an XBox 360, and a PS2; don't have the PS3 yet, waiting for the price to go down a little first. It really is a matter of personal preference based on what style of games you like. All systems have proprietary games/exclusive titles such as: XBox-Halo, Gears of War; PS2-Ratchet & Clank; Nintendo-anything Mario. And there are some titles that are developed for all consoles, like Splinter Cell. That being said, Splinter Cell on XBox is a way different (and better) game than on PS2.
I like both the XBox and Playstation systems, and I play different games on each. You can still buy a PS2 for less than $130 in most places, and while they aren't developing any new titles for the PS2, there are a ton of really great games still available...like God of War one & two.
I've never been a Mario fan, so when the original Playstation was released, we bought one and said good-bye to the Nintendo NES. Plus, Playstation was the first system you could play CDs on (am I the only one here who remembers that far back?).
If you have a Game Stop in your area, check it out. They have used and refurbished systems for pretty reasonable prices and offer warranties. You can also exchange any games you don't want anymore, and by joining, you get a year's subscription to Game Informer (awesome magazine) as well as special prices on merchandise. Also, Game Informer magazine keeps you up to date with all console and handheld news, as well as PC news and games.
After a lot of research, we went for the XBox 360...mainly due to fondness of the XBox system and games, but also due to price and initial problems with the PS3. That's not to say PS3 isn't a good system...it does have Blu-ray. But what I've found is there are far more titles on XBox 360 and it's backwards compatible for almost every original XBox game. Not that the 360 hasn't had problems...we incurred the infamous "red rings of death" and we didn't purchase the system until it had been out almost a year. But Microsoft did replace the system and gave us credit for Microsoft Live Gold. I've heard the Live capabilities of the 360 are better that the PS3, and you don't need a 60 or 80 hardrive (bigger hardrive equals more dollars) to be backwards compatible...the 360 does a fine job with just a 20.
Again, it's a matter of personal preference. None of the new systems are inexpensive, so before laying out your hard-earned dollars, do your research, talk to the folks at Game Stop, and browse their shelves for titles that appeal to you.
Hope that helps!

Ps2 is an old system and can be emulated on the 80gb ps3 system which costs about $499. So that's an option. The Ps3 is a all-around entertainment option. It has some exclusive games but is behind because it came out late.I have a ps3 right now but it's the 40gb one that costs $399. I find it fun. It comes with a blu-ray player too.
The xbox 360 is $349 but that has hardware failures sometimes. It's rare but does happen. The games like Halo 3 and Gears of War are good. There are also cheaper ones available. You have to pay for online though. I think it costs about $3 dollars a month for Xbox Live Gold.
The Wii is a family type system and is pretty fun. It's good if you have friends over. Games like Super Smash Bro's and Kart Racing. It's pretty cheap too.
Overall it's what you can spent. Games cost a lot for systems too. Can run you $60+ for soem games.

The wii is a joke. nothing but first party games are keeping that thing alive. If people would see the light they would realize that just because it is cheaper it is not better. The graphics are absolute ****. The PS2 has better graphics and that thing is 8 years old. The Wii's thrid party titles are just shovelware and are shitty. Get the PS2. It is cheaper and has over 4000 games for it. As with the Wii, it doesn't even have a DVD player... something that the PS2 had in 2000. The Wii's low price tag and "innovation" are the only thing that is keeping that piece of **** alive. You name me more than 5 third party game for the Wii that have gotten a 9.0 or higher on gamespot... get a PS2... it is better in every way. If you want Gamecube graphics, nothing but first party games, a terrible controller and of course no online to speak of, get the Wii. the Wii is absolute garbage and it has no buisness calling itself a 7th gen system. Get a PS2 you won't regret it.

a PS2 slim is $129, PS3 ($399-40GB $499-80GB), xbox $349, and the wii is $279... I think that you should either get a wii xbox or PS3 the PS2 is too old and you won't find many games for it... the PS3 is the gaming of the future it has blue-ray and all the kind of things that are top of the line... the xbox is basically already maxed out but there is a lot of games for it (but mostly shooters)... Nintendo wii is so much fun playing with family or friends but it's not the best for graphics...the wii just gives the player a different experience from other consoles since it's all motion sensitive... eBay is very cheep if you find a good buy but be careful on eBay

Well ll it depends on your budget, in Au PS2 is about $190, PS3 id about $620?, Nintendo Wii is about $399 and an xbox 360 is about $550. If it is between an xbox 360 and a ps3 than go for the ps3 because for about $100 or less ps3 has way better graphics and is blu ray equipped which a blu ray player will cost about 150 - 200 dollars anyway and its better value. Nintendo Wii is extremely fun as i have one but sometimes doesn't have the variety of games and it also can hurt your arm a bit, but builds up muscles, on the other hand it is more interactive and makes you more fit etc. A ps2 i also have which there is nothing wrong with it compared to a ps3 except for graphics are less, i have never had a problem with it, if variety of games is your problem than maybe don't get it but it still has allot of games. ebay is not really trusty from my point of view, you are better to g to the shops and find a new one for the prices that i listed. try everywhere, we looked in shops like jb hifi, harvey norman, target, big w, eb games and the cheapest we found were actually in Myers and david jones. hope that helps

Well if you get a ps2, you have access to a huge library of very good games including a lot of ps1 games as well, with the console and games being cheap. If you get a ps3 (the 80 gb version, the 40 gb doesn't have backwards compatibility), you get all that plus a lot more including the internet browser, multimedia capability, etc. Now the ps3 has about an 80% backwards compatibility rate, which means some games won't work. But 80% is a large majority and you will be able to play most games fine. I would go for the ps3 because of some real good exclusives coming out (Final Fantasy XIII for example) and some already out (Metal Gear Solid 4) which are pretty convincing as well as being able to play a massive amount of previous generation games. There are plenty of amazing exclusives for the other consoles too (Super Smash Bros. Brawl) and lots of good games to choose from with the xbox but in my opinion the ps3 gives you the most bang for your bucks.

ok a ps2 is about 130.a wii is 250.a xbox360 is 280. and a ps3 40gig is 400 and 80gig is 500. now a ps2 is definitly too old. its the cheapest option but i suggest u dont go with it. a wii is very fun to play with other ppl but i gets old very fast.and its tiering.now actually the 360 is cheaper than the ps3 but the ps3 is worth the money.i have a ps3 and its AWESOME.it is definitly the gaming of the future.it looks awesome has amazing graphics and has a good line up of games on the way.blue ray disc sixaxsis and fun gaming.u should definitly hands down get the ps3.no doubt about it.
o by the way the wii does have a wrestling game ive played it and its fun for a little but it gets boring and the graphics are horrible by the way.

As owner of all of those consoles except for Xbox, I would say get the PS3 or Wii.
Wii is fun, but not that many good exclusive games. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a must-have, but that's pretty much it. Wii fit is good too, I couldn't even buy it because it was sold out. But that's pretty much it. Mario Kart Wii is fun, but gets boring easily.
PS3 is fun and has tons of great exclusive games. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the ultimate PS3 exclusive. I know I said Brawl is a must-have, but MGS4 is piece of perfection. The story is phenomonal, and I haven't played any other MGS games. And the cutscenes are breathtaking. And there are many other good games too. Warhawk, for instance, is the best online game ever developed. It has no single-player of any kind, but the online is awesome. I never get bored of it.
PS2 and Xbox 360 are out of the question. PS2 is great, but it's not getting any more good games. And the 360, in my opinion, is a piece of crap.
So if you like the idea of moving for games, go Wii. If you like pretty much everything else, go PS3

you're between a rock and a stressful place in what you seek for. while the Wii won't be able to play any severe definition format action picture discs, it has a handful of excellent, family contributors-orientated multiplayer video games. the unlucky element is that the handful is basically that, and the Wii has attracted a high quality of 0.33 occasion help that ought to ultimate be defined using the observe 'mediocre' the different option is Microsoft's XBox 360. The undesirable information is Microsoft initially partnered with the builders of the HD-DVD, which has on the grounds that failed as a format. i've got heard that a 0.33-occasion accessory will enable the 360 to play BluRay, even although i've got no longer heard whilst it fairly is predicted to launch. regrettably, the options interior the console realm are not extremely impressive. As a console gamer via fact the Atari, i think they have all lost their luster, and grow to be high priced multimedia instruments, rather of gaming consoles. for that reason, i've got caught with notebook gaming.
