Lemon Battery?

Is there a chemical reaction in a lemon batterie? If so wat is it?

After some time the multimeter will read 0. Why?

If i take the metal strips out of the lemon, are there any signs that a chemical reaction has occured?

Thx, i left my science book at school so yeah....

lemon batteries are made by using an anode and a cathode. the anode is a negative electrode and the cathode is the positive electrode. you put the cathode (copper) in on side of a lemon and the anode (zinc) into the other. then you conect copper wire from the cathode to the negative conductor o what your powering and the anode to the positive. that makes a complete circuit. get the zinc either as a galvanized nail (trust me, i went to a hardware store and someone said it wasn't, but it worked perfectly) or get it from a dead battery (i wouldn't suggest it).

there is a chemical reacton and eventually the electrons will die, but one lemon or half a lemon should have about .80 volts.

    i really hope it helps
