Multiple Personality Disorder...?
If a person has several accounts on several websites, posing as different people from different areas with different agendas, is it possible that the real person suffers from MPD and is using the Internet as an outlet for emergences of the personalities?
I am not talking about accounts on this site only. I am talking about having various email accounts, profiles on myspace or facebook, messenger accounts, etc...

Anything is possible,but I think its more likely a combination of game playing, anonymity ,and evaluation of self and others

I believe it's now reffered to as Disassociative Disorder not MPD... its been that way for well over a decade, I believe.
Anyway, to answer your question, I do not think that a lot of ppl have that disorder, as people with multiple accts are just good at making up stuff e.g improvisation, role-playing etc
