Your body normally will compensate for the loss of blood, but your hemoglobin and hematocrit may be low for a few months at the most under normal circumstances while your body regenerates the red blood cell supply. I would recommend eating foods that are high in iron content such as red meats or possibly taking an iron supplement and B vitamin supplement if you want to get these levels back to normal faster. I would talk to your doctor first to see if he/she would recommend iron/B vitamin supplements. Your body is going to try to compensate as fast as it can to get everything back to normal.

Not that I am aware of, just keep up with the fluids and make sure you get enough Iron in your diet.

in the short term water but the hospital would not have let you go if that was needed, after that its iron

Iron is needed but be careful not to take too much, as an over dose can easly kill you

Source(s): I lost 2 Lts 4 months ago after giving birth to my baby. I was on a lot of drips but when told to go home was just told to carry on taking the iron tabets.

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and I would eat protein as well.
