what,s the shortest trip from vegas to grand canyon?besides helicopter ,travelling with 2 small kids.advice pl

If I were to go to the GC with kids it would be by car adn I would stay overnight there, its about 4-5 hours each way but there are places to stop which is what I think that you need with little ones. The other option depending on age is to go via fixed wing (plane) but I think car is the way to go.

A couple of things :

The so called West Rim of the Canyon is not an actual place .It only exists in the minds of various marketing departments .If you want to see the Grand Canyon you have to go to the S.Rim or the N.Rim which are about equidistant from Las Vegas

One thing you need to know :

It is critically important that once you get within 100' of the Rim that your kids are either on a leash or otherwise physically restrained

While it doesn't happen often people [mostly kids]do fall into the Canyon

Take a bus tour or rent a car. At least with a car you can stop as needed, etc. But the bus has the built in bathroom.
