That's a phishing email. Whatever you do, don't reply to the message and give the phishers your personal information. Doing so will cause the phishers to quickly change the password, denying you access to your own account. Many people lose their Y! accounts by falling for this trick, so don't be the next one to lose yours in that manner.
You need to remember Y! doesn't ever send you an email to verify your account information, as the company already has that stored in its well-secured servers.
Send the message to the following addresses:
phishing@cc.yahoo-inc.com
mail-spoof@cc.yahoo-inc.com
Then turn around and spam that fraud message spammed straight into oblivion right away.
By doing as I instructed, you will have kept your Y! account free from the phishers' hands.

It is a bogus e-mail, if you haven't deleted it yet you should try and forward it to yahoo security, they want to know about all of those type of e-mails so they can work on stopping them. Note the following from Yahoo:
How do I report a phishing email or web site?
Quickly reporting a fraudulent email or web site helps us better protect you and your fellow Yahoo! members.
Report a phishing email
If you received an email that says it's from Yahoo! or another trusted source but you suspect it might be a phishing email, forward the email to phishing@cc.yahoo-inc.com. For information about identifying potential phishing emails, see How can I recognize a phishing email?

Yahoo doesn't verify like that. If you don't use your account for four months, they shut it down until you re log in and activate your account. I would report the message as phishing. I'm glad you didn't answer back to it, good job.

Scam. If it provided information, it isn't legit. Yahoo would never send that kind of message. Verify it? yahoo doesn't require date of birth for anything. Somebody is trying to Phish your information. Report it.

Some one wants access to your account for bad purposes so do not answer it, just delete it and carry on as usual.
