I need advice. 2000 Mustang?

Hey everyone,

I have been looking into buying a new car. And one of my friends is selling a 2000 Mustang Coupe. It's a V6 and has 85 thousand miles. It is in mint condition. It has only had two owners, and the previous one before him was an elderly woman who barely ever drove it. After all the work he has put into it the car is actually worth 7300, but he is only selling it for 5 grand. Is this a good deal? I'm not familiar with any information on cars and etc so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The worth is 7300 but he is selling it for 5000 because you won't get the truth worth anymore. This is a very good friend of mine, and if the deal were to go "sour" I would blame it on no one but myself. We are co-workers, both working for the Florida State Police, therefore I'm not concerned about how he drove it.

Not to mention, I have always wanted a Mustang, and this deal presented itself and seems like a good deal, I just wanted some opinions.

I'm not worried about losing the friendship at all. We are close enough for me to know that he is not one for trying to royally screw people. Especially not the ones he is close too.

And yes, I would date a friend. That is how most of my relationships have began. Good friendships make great relationships.

I am not looking for something with a crazy amount of speed. I have had someone look over teh vehicle, and it is in perfect condition. Now all I need ot know is if it is a good deal as far as price goes.

    Go for it, if you trust your friend you don't need advice from anyone. "Get 'er done".

    You need to first think about how your friend drove it. As with any car, if it has been driven hard there is a lot of wear on all parts of the car (suspension, joints, engine, transmission). If he drove it with care, then it is a great buy. You said he did some work to it. If it is work, as in making repairs/maintenance, that is good. If it's work, as in lowering or power adds, I typically would say that it bad.

    Let me also ask you this, would you date a friend. Either way if it turns out bad, you could lose a friend.

    Not that the Mustang is a bad choice.

    But you need ask yourself if your friendship can withstand a deal going sour?

    If it does turn out to be a lemon in your opinion, will you blame them, blame yourself or just say it was one of those things?

    To me it is more about the relationship then the car!

    that deal stinks to high heaven. "Old woman who barely drove it" is the oldest cliche in car ripoffs. If book is 7300 and hes selling it to you for less, why? Doesn't want or need 2000 dollars he could get on the open market?

    I would rather buy a z28 chevy camaro.Its faster and the engine is stronger,plus it is roomier.
