Cheap recipes for really picky fiance?
My fiance is a very picky eater. No casseroles, nothing spicy, nothing that mixes any meats and cheeses together, nothing with dressing or gravy, etc. on top of it. I love to eat and try new things and it gets very frustrating to have to continually make the same 5 or 6 dishes he will eat and love. We're spending way too much going out just so I can have something new I like and he can still have his old, boring standbys. Anyone else had to deal with this? Any recipe ideas? I can't find anything suitable online but maybe I'm not looking in the right place!
Positive responses only please. I am a teacher off for the summer and my fiance is studying for the bar exam. He's slightly more busy (sarcasm) than I am and I am really just trying to add a few things to our weekly menu while I have the time and energy. Thank you!

There are only two of us at home and we found out that the now frozen dinners are delicious and most are healthy with no preservatives. Buy the top known brands.
Here is a typical weekly dinner for us:
We both have our own frozen dinner;
Canned pears or other fruits;
Small can of vegetables;
Can of sweet potatoes or bake two potatoes in the microwave;
Ready made frozen pie, or a dessert from the deli, or ice cream cups.
Give it a try for one week and see what you think.
Another thing you can do is buy pre-cooked meats such as pot roast, chicken, pork chops, ham, meatloaf, etc. Divide them into meals and freeze them. We do this often. Ask a grocery store clerk to help you find these pre-cooked meats. They are in the refridgeration section.
The boxed pasta dinners are delicious. Just follow the directions on the boxes. You will find these on the shelf at your grocery store. Each box has a packet of spices.
You can buy cups of rice for one person. Just add water. Follow directions on the containers.
Canned soups with a sandwich make great dinners or lunches.
Bagged salad greens will often give you two or three salads. BE SURE TO READ THE DATES. Buy the ones that have been washed twice. Salad greens go bad fast.

Cerals are good for supper.
Eggs are also good for supper as in fried egg sandwiches.
Grilled cheeses with soup.
Spam can be fried or eaten cold on bread.
Canned fish such as kippers, sardines, tuna, salmon (I like to put a little soy sauce or salsa on kippers and sardines).

Cook boneless skinless chicken breasts in a large skillet with a little oil about 4 minutes per side on medium heat. Add one chopped onion, cook briefly and add 1 cup of chicken broth. Cook about 3 minutes then add one jar of spaghetti sauce. Turn heat to low, cover and let simmer until chicken is done, approximately 20 minutes. Meanwhile, cook some pasta ( bowties or rotini are nice) following directions on the box. Drain the pasta and serve the chicken and sauce over the pasta. Serve with a bagged salad and Italian bread. I like to make asian food once in a while and here are some links to some simple, yet delicious asian recipes. They might include japanese, chinese, malaysian, indonesian, thai, or vietnamese food (those are my favorite). And if he likes sushi you could either make or buy some different kinds, some soy sauce, wasabi, or whatever.

Well, I hope you find something you like. Asian recipes are not usually, if ever, casseroles, though there are some spicy recipes, but it is easy to tell if they are spicy or not by looking at the ingredients. I can't think of any recipe that mixes meat and cheese together, and some asian recipes are salads, so they have dressing. But that's it. Asian cuisine is definitely different, especially if you make it yourself. If you make it yourself, it turns out way better than the asian food you get at your local asian restaurant, unless it's like a five-star restaurant. Well, good luck!
P.S. you might have to go to a specialty store to buy some of the ingredients. Sometimes, you don't have to, but it may happen. Just look one up on one of these sites:

Olive Garden Alfredo Fettuccine
1 pint heavy cream
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
2 tablespoons cream cheese
1/2 - 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder, add in more to suit your taste if you prefer
Salt and pepper, to taste
8 ounces fettuccine, cooked and drained
In a saucepan combine butter, heavy cream, and cream cheese. Simmer this until all is melted, and mixed well. Add the Parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Simmer this for 15 - 20 minutes over low heat.
Toss pasta lightly with sauce, coating well. Leftovers freeze well.
Square Spaghetti
8 ounces vermicelli
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 (14 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
4 ounces sliced pepperoni
2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and place in a large mixing bowl.
Combine egg and milk. Pour over pasta and mix well.
Coat a 13 x 9-inch pan with non-stick vegetable spray. Pour pasta mixture into pan. Cover pasta with spaghetti sauce. Layer pepperoni over sauce and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack for 10 minutes.
Cut into squares to serve

what is he kosher?..you can go to a local kosher grocery store and buy recipe books. if he's not kosher and just an annoying eater then cook what you want, and let him starve. no dont really do that, but cook him the same ole same ole, picky eaters usually have routine food, and you cook separate dishes for you. eventually he will get curious and want to cross over to the yummy side.

Does he like meatloaf or roasted chicken breast served with baked mashed potatoes or roasted potatoes. Neither is spicy, just loaded with flavor.
Herb Roasted Chicken Breast
2 - 16 to 24 oz bone-in chicken breast
2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon Mrs. Dash garlic & Herb Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Olive Oil
Preheat oven 425 degrees. Remove any excess fat from chicken, set aside.
Mix butter with oregano, Mrs. Dash, Pepper & Salt. Gently lift skin and add 1/4 butter mixture, spread evenly under skin, use another 1/3 of the mixture to coat underside and tender side of chicken breast. Repeat with second breast.
Place chicken in glass baking dish, lightly coat with olive oil. Place in oven cook uncovered 20 minutes.
Lower oven temperature to 350 degrees, cook 15 minutes. Remove from oven, tent with foil, rest 10 minutes.

try www.tasteofhome.com. they're usually really simple quick recipes. other than that, all i know to tell you is cook a lot of his "standbys" all at one time and put them in the freezer and just reheat him a plate when you want something different.

My aunt had to deal with things kind of like this...
no casseroles, no mac and cheese, no this no that....
she will make stuff like spaghetti, potato salads, meatloaf, tacos, lot's of bbq's, chicken fried steak,
other than that, I can tell you nothing except he'll have to keep going to restaurants...good luck!

My daughter has this problem and just gave up...she does a hamburger, pepperoni pizza, fried chicken cycle and just cooks for herself...they eat two different meals...
