What classic hits should every rock guitarist know?

DO NOT TRY THESE AT FIRST. These songs are great songs that every self respecting rocker will know, but they are not the easiest songs in the world.

3-Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple (This one is actually pretty easy and good for beginners, save for the solo)

5- Iron Man - Black Sabbath

Yeah, definitely Stairway.

Umm.

EVERY guitarist knows "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day, whether they like the band or not. Plus "Sweet Home Alabama". Haha.

But go with songs by The Eagles, The Beatles, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Queen. Difficulty ranges, but everyone knows and loves them.

Derek and the Dominoes- Layla

The Rolling Stones- Paint it Black

olivia thats not cuz their classics, its cuz they're about the easiest songs in the world to play.

stairway is definetely one. its all finger picking and its a helluva lot more difficult than people think it is.

it depends entirely on the genre u wanna play (going beyond just rock)

you could easily say that judas priests "breaking the law" or "rock the casbah" by the clash are his every guitarist should know. hell you could say if a guitarist wanted to be glam, poison's "talk dirty to me" is a must know.

Of course Stairway to Heaven.

Also Iron Man by Black Sabbath I believe is a good one to know.

Anything by Stevie Ray Vaughan, but if you are just starting out it may be awhile to you get to that level.
