A cupcake is usually a cake mix and it has icing on it. A muffin could be a blueberry, corn, apple or any kind of muffin.

the batter is different and what you put on and in them. cupcakes aer a little bit more dense while muffins are lighter.

muffins are generally made from real fruits like blueberry strawberry etc dont involve any icing and are generally much healthier for you -- cupcakes are made from cake batter and generally covered in sugary sweet icing are much sweeter and fattier
