Anyone know some good covers?

Maybe a song covered by a band/artist of a different genre?

Social Distortion did a cover of Johnny Cash's hit "Ring of Fire". And despite the fact that I like Johnny Cash, I have to say that I prefer the Social Distortion version of this song. :)

I prefer Travis Tritt's cover of "Take It Easy" by The Eagles. His voice is much deeper & more expressionful than Glenn Frey's.

I prefer the 10,000 Maniacs cover of "Because the Night" over The Patti Smith Group original. Natalie Merchant's voice is much better, the music is better, and I like her Natalie's subtle lyric changes.

I much prefer Faith Hill's cover of Janis Joplin's "Take Another Little Piece of My Heart." In fact, I find Janis's voice downright unpleasant on that song.

Soft Cell did a cover of "Tainted Love" by Gloria Jones, and I definitely prefer Soft Cell, as I love anything that sounds New Wave or synth-pop.

Just the other day I heard Sugarland do a cover of "Life in a Northern Town" by the Dream Academy. I'm not sure which version I like better, but probably Sugarland's, simply because there's a lot of really neat interplay between their voices. And it's a live version, too.

Apparently more than 24 artists of different genres have covered "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" -- can you believe that? Of the ones I've heard, I like U2's cover the best.
