What does it mean when someone "owns" a picture?
I have a few of my husband's younger cousins on my Myspace, and when looking through their pictures, I noticed that many of the captions said "(someone) owns". (For example "John owns".) with various names of different people. I also saw on some uncaptioned pictures, people have commented and said "Can I own this, please?"
Call me an idiot, but this makes no sense to me. What the heck does it mean? I don't want to be "owned" by anyone, thanks. (Mostly noticed this with the younger crowd)

basically saying that they really like the picture [more than anyone else] so you 'give' the picture to them.

People will comment someone's pictures and say "I own this picture" or something like that and the person will change the caption of their picture to say "[insert name here] owns" or something like that. There isn't really any reason for it other than that. At least not that I know of. It just means that they "own" that person's picture.

It means that person took the picture and its like a metaphor basically. It doesnt mean someone owns someone literally.
For example:
We were scrolling across the beach and Bob took a picture of me, then later, I posted it on myspace saying "Bob owns this picture or Bob owns!) You get it?

They say that because in this case of pictures, "own" mean that you either wrote it first or you like it the best out of everyone.

when someone says they *own* or call *dibs* on a picture, it means that person likes the picture, it's just another way to say *great pic*
trust me on this....everyone *owns my pics. lol

Give them an enlarged picture for their ref. That is all they requested you. May be the one you gave is not clear.

it means that, this picture 'belo9ngs' to a specific person, and in order to use it you must ask the person specified =]
