yes. he has a great shot. now the draw is open for him .

Probably not. He's been plagued with injuries in the past. The top 2 seeds have a better backcourt game and are more match tough. A better backcourt game on grass (of all things) is important because most modern day players have largely eliminated the net game.
Safin's chances of winning it all will be increased if he 1- serves really well, and 2- takes advantage of every short ball by getting to the net, volleying well and ending the point quickly. Otherwise, he's not going to win it.
