Why Won't My Wii Remotes Work?

So I turned on the Wii system and when the black screen pops up that says press "A" my remote won't work :-( It'll flash but it wont stay on player 1 or player 2

It can't be that the battery is low because i have the wii remote charger.

What could it be?

Update:

yes i have set it up. ive had the wii for about 8 months now and this is the first time this has happened. it used to be i needed to fix the sensor for the remote BUT this time my remote wont work at all. like i said it just flashes (both remotes)

Open the case where the batteries are on the Wii remote. There's a red button. Go to your Wii and open the port where you insert SD cards(next to where you insert the disks). Push red button on the Wii and on your Wii remote. You're suppose to sync. them.

Well first things first put batteries in, then press 1- 2 at the same time..hold it.... then if that doesnt work look in the remote book. if u want more controllers to play go to...the little house on the player one controller and press remote settings then press i think turn off remotes and the press 1-2 on all of them.

Did you already setup the Wii remote?

If not, get the Wii remote manual from the box and read through it.

    Do you have enough batteries?

First, you have to point PLAYER 1'S wii Mote to the sensor bar. Then, press A.

    It should work.

    If it dosen't, sorry I don't know.
