Do they ever fight properly?
Or is it always scripted?
If it's never a real fight, why do people bother watching it and getting so worked up?
madddness...
I was going to say something along those lines, yeah - of course everyone goes to watch films at the cinema and it's fun. But if the guy next to me started screaming at the action like they do at WWE then I'd be calling the police for him.
HBK - that doesn't answer this question at all.
If you have something to add, would you mind turning on spell check before submitting any additional details to your "answer".

Sure the matches are always scripted by the storyliners in that the outcomes, moves used, how the match "works" and at what time of the match are all rehearsed and carefully planned. But the actual moves are for real, which is why all the Superstars and Divas have gone to an academy or development territory before the main rosters on WWE or even TNA.The action is for real and the moves and finishers are as well.
But it's not a "fight" as such as Vince McMahon or Dixie Carter have to protect their wrestlers from injury.Wrestling is real as Rey Misterio, The Undertaker, Melina on Raw this week and Gregory Helms are all out currently injured. And if you need further convincing as to whether it's real ~ check out the link below.

Probably not, because then there's a higher chance of someone getting seriously hurt, and as a business, the WWE wouldn't want that. Also, if they did have 'real' fights, it would be impossible to script the storylines, and so the entire show would consist solely of fights, which wouldn't be very interesting at all lol.
As for the getting worked up, wrestling is like one big soap opera. People love it, and get invested in the characters. You never know what's going to happen week in week out (although after a while, you can take a pretty good guess) and so in that way, it is as unpredictable as other sports, and so provokes a reaction.
Anyway, people get worked up over their fave character in TV shows... why shouldn't they for their fave wrestler?

Why do you watch movies? They are scripted. Why do you watch porn? most of the orgasms are fake (the female ones anyway) There is not a thing in pop culture that does not have a tint of fakeness to it.
Plus not all matches are scripted. Because you can also get shoot wrestling which is very similar to UFC only in a wrestling ring (they are basically non-scripted submission matches) You don't see that in WWE (and very seldomly in North America, but they are extremely popular in Japan).

The wrestling in America is never real, although there are forms of "Real" wrestling that exist in Japan. This is the form called shoot wrestling. The people get worked up because of the traditional goody/baddy divide which is shown in the scripted storylines.
