Is El Gordo Lottery a scam??? (more info inside)?

Okay, my friend is a vivid lottery ticket buyer, from all around the world (yadah yadah) And just today he got a call from (and a REAL message "snail mail") saying that he had won 30M dollars or something, i got really ectited, but then he said they asked for some personal things and he answered them, and then they asked for 1,600(or something like this) to pay for a lawyer fee and transfer fees, he said he will look into getting the money, and they will call him back in a week... I told him that this sounds like a scam and that you shouldn't do it, but he wont just believe me...

Sorry if this is long, i'm trying to prove a point to a friend (although i may be wrong, and if i am i'm sorry El Gordo company for thinking poorly of you)

This is there website if you need it... http://www.el-gordo.com/

P.S

If something is to be a scam from a real company (scammers inpersinating i mean) how would anyone know...

Your instincts are correct. This is of course a scam. Why would a company who are about to give you money want money from you instead up front! Then you will send it via Western Union or Moneygram only, and kiss goodbye to this 1,600!

If you just type "El Gordo Lottery" scam - into Google, just start reading the long list of reports! That should convince your friend. http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1...

Simple scam but amazing how many people still fall for it

Though the site you mentioned is a scam, there really is an El Gordo de la Primitiva in Spain.

There are a few ways for you to play it online: either through their OFFICIAL site, or through Wintrillions/Trillonario, CongaLotto, or one of their affiliate sites.

They will never send you anything saying you won, unless you have actually bought a ticket from them and won.

Here is one of those affiliate sites, which has all the official site links that can be played online through the above: http://loteriasinternational.com/ . I have actually played Mega Millions with them and won a few dollars.

Click in the link to their "links" page. It also has a link to a site that tells about all the current scams.
