At 25, one does not have to run away. Just move to wherever you want----even another country.

You are 25, married, I'm assuming at some point likely to have kids of your own. there is no need to run anywhere. You and your wife do not have to include your mother in your life, and you can do that right where you are. If you feel like you will be happier elsewhere, then you should, by all means, go. I would like to point out that the baggage of having an emotionally unavailable mom tends to follow you around.

No matter what, she's the mother. Tell her, DON'T ask her, that you are getting married and if she doesn't care she might as well not show up! It's horrible that the said child being 25 years old lived with no love from his own mother. And to show that he can live without his mother, don't run away, get married in her face!
