ASP.Net doesn't need knowledge of ASP. You can start directly with asp.net.
Although you need to know basic concepts of Object Oriented Programming.
I think as you want to learn asp.net it doesn't matter if there is any difference with asp.
Asp is outdated and not supported anymore by microsoft. Go for Asp.net and learn from the link which first post includes (w3schools)

ASP.Net is a completely redesign ASP.
Some people call ASP.Net is ASP on steroid :)
ASP.Net is more properly structured to avoid spaghetti code like ASP.
ASP.Net also have many web components to allow user to plugin and make their web page better.
The code of ASP.Net is more readable compare with ASP.
