Uninstalling Programs?
Hi I need help to uninstall programs on my computer. They are slowing down my computer and I do not use them so I want them gone. However, I am sort of challenged when it comes to computers ; basically I only know how to go on myspace + AIM. So if you can explain this to me step by step, really easily, it would be really helpful.
I use Windows if that helps at all.
Thanks SO much

Hi, this is actually a very popular question, so don't feel bad.
The basic way of un-installing a program is to:
Click Start > My Computer > Add or Remove Programs
This will bring up a list of every installed program currently on your computer. You may have to wait a minute, but in a quick 30 seconds or less, everything should be there. From there, you can scroll down the list and select/remove any program you wish.
Now, using this, is using the programs uninstall and will leave the actual uninstaller and any files the program feels like leaving behind, although it will un-install the main program.
To fix this, I use Revo Uninstaller; Revo, will un-install professionally as well as search for left over files and un-installers afterwards to rid your pc of any crud left behind by programs you don't need anymore. To Download Revo you can safely download it from this address:
http://www.download.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096...
C-net, the site you are download this from is safe and well-trusted, as well as the program, i believe it has 4.5/5 which is very high among free-ware, or free programs. Once you download revo, it will bring up a list of programs installed on your computer, similiar to before, and let you choose what you would like to do w/ any. Before un-installing it will bring up a screen to choose how you would like to un-install this, it's best to leave this at the recommended, moderate. Revo will uninstall the program, search for left over files, which are safe to delete, and have you off and your computer running slightly faster, hopefully.
I hope this helps, best of luck :)

As we all know that it is normal to uninstall a program from Add/Remove programs list. But most of the time, some program will not list/be uninstalled from Add/Remove programs or with its built-in uninstaller. At this time, it is very necessary to uninstall it with a professional uninstaller to prevent some left-over files in the drives or registry. Of all the uninstallers I have used, Perfect Uninstaller is the one that I love so much. The "Force Uninstall" function allows us to uninstall programs that are not in the Add/Remove programs list, which is very suitable in uninstalling corrupted program. So wish you good luck!

Ok here is what you can do to uninstall programs on your comp. go to your start menu, and there should be two columns go to the second column and there should be something that says Set programs accesses and defaults or something along those lines. Click on it a window should pop that says Add or Remove programs. There is a little side column and has icons you can click on. Click on the icon that says Change or remove programs. Once you get into the window scroll down the list of programs and find the one you would like to remove. Click on it and it will say Change/Remove. Click remove, a small window should come up saying preparing to remove or whatever. And there you have it. If you have any questions or need me to explain anything email me.

Step by Step??? I'll try...
1.) Click start>Control Panel or Start>Settings>Control Panel
the sign "> is then. So its like Start then Control Panel.
2.)Under the Control Panel Window click "Add or Remove Programs.
3.)The Add and Remove Programs window will appear here you can select the programs you want to remove from your pc system. Just select the program and click remove. It will automatically remove the program.
4.) Although the program is already remove from your system sometimes something are left. Like the settings, logs and the folder containing them. So can go to My computer>Local C>All Programs, to delete folder of the program you already remove. Just click show hidden files if prompted to.
Note: Running programs cant be remove. Like Anti Virus program. Basically you must close the program before you can remove it.

Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs
Find the program you want to remove, highlight and choose "remove"
Um, if you're really computer challenged, how have you determined that there are programs slowing down your computer? And which ones? Unless they run all the time, they don't use anything but some hd space. If your computer is slowing down, I'd be more suspicious that you have some sort of infection.

If you have the Category View, aka things are shown in groups, click "switch to classic view".
Now find Add or Remove Programs. Click on it, and then wait for programs to load. After the programs load, you can click on one you don't want and click "uninstall".
