Do not clean with alcohol or iodine or betadine these cleaners are harsh for healing cells if you expose new skin cells to either of these substances under a microscope you can actually see the cells explode. Use a mild antibacterial soap and sea salt soaks/ to make the sea salt soaks mix 1 cup warm distilled water with one teaspoon sea salt in a clean container and soak the pierced area. Only do this once a day or after getting dirty. It's okay that it hurts for today and probably a few days afterwards because when your friend pierced it she most likely used a earring or something that was not ideal for piercing so she caused some damage to the surrounding tissues. This is okay just be gentle with it. Don't take that jewelry out because if you do get an infection taking the jewelry out can cause an abscess that will be nasty and could cause more problems than not.

First off...irritation and pain is normal for the first while. It takes 6-8 weeks for a ear lobe to heal. Irritation will make your piercing red, swollen, sore, and it can seep, and have "crusties".... Infection will be red around the piercing as well as a large area of the surrounding tissue. It will be sore at the site plus several inches away, and it will seep dark yellow to green pus. An infection is also usually warm to the touch. Put an antibiotic ointment on it like neosporin. Try dissolving 1/8 tsp. non-iodized salt in a cup of warm water, and either dip your piercing into the cup or use a clean cotton ball to hold it gently against the piercing. Do this for 5-10 minutes once or twice a day.

Don't use alcohol. It'll close the piercing. Turn the studs, yeah, but you only have to about once a day. When you clean, get some antiseptic, and put it on a cotton ball. Clean around the ear, and kind of pull the earring back and forth to get the stuff into the piercing. Don't take it out for 6-8 weeks, and be sure to clean up any crust that forms in or around the piercing (white blood cell secretion, totally normal).

The burning sensation is the RA contacting exposed flesh because skin has not closed over the puncture wound yet. This is why you are putting a disinfectant on your ear, to prevent germs from getting into the exposed area and creating an infection. Once the skin grows back around the circumference of the hole, it will be healed and you won't have to use RA. When it no longer stings you are healed.

your only supposed to clean piercing with bedadine or a like solution. alcohol is not intended for internal use and could cause it to become infected. i may be infected depending on how bad your skin reacted to it or it may just be inflamed and will go down. but please keep the alcohol out of it or it will eventually become infected

No, the burn is your guilty conscience telling you that you shouldn't have gone behind your mother's back like that.
