Has anyone taken Citalopram (Celexa) for Post Natal Depression?

Hi all, I have just started taking Citalopram (also known as Celexa) for postnatal depression and I was wondering if anyone else has taken it for the same reason and if it helped?

Did you have side effects?

How long did it take for you to start noticing a difference in the way you felt?

Don't bother answering if you have anything negative to say, I'm looking for advice and support not negative opinions.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi ya i take citalopram for the same reason i have been on them now for a year after my daughter was born, and i thought that they were not working, but it took them about a month for them to do anything to help my mood, i stupidliy stopped taking them, a few months ago as i thought i would be ok, but i wasnt and it came back real bad, just keep taking them at the same time everyday and if you forhet one take it as soon as you remember and continue as normal again. If you find that in about 2-3 weeks they are not helping go back to your gp. Dont worry huni, i know how you feel with the post natal, you just want someone to come and take it all away and make you feel better, but you are on the right track to getting well as you recognised you had a problem and you are trying to sort it out. Good luck and take care, oh and congratulations on being a mummy, xxxx

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..

But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

I really do wish I could be of help to you. But considering I am a single man I would only be looking for answers on the net, and I am sure you have already done that. I have suffered a depression of a different kind but I wouldn't dream of saying I know how you feel. I do, however, wish you a speedy recovery.
