If your short story is more than 10 word document pages long, like maybe 20- 25 pgs, where can it be published

I am writing a fantasy-genre short story that is going to be more than 20-25 pages long -- what publications would publish short stories that are about 20 - 25 pages long?

Most publishers go by word count rather than page length. About the maximum page length you're going to see accepted is 20,000 words. If we assume a page is around 600 words (which is about the maximum in 12-point times new roman), that means that the maximum amount of pages you can have is around 33.

Here's one contest I know that looks for 20,000 word stories:

That's the only one I know of. Finding contests that are for more than 8,000 words is really a challenge. I hope this helps you!

Take a look at the 2008 Novel and Short Story Writers Market (Writers Digest Books, 2007)--it's a good starting point for who accepts what, what format the document should be in, etc. Most public libraries will have a copy, or just take a look at your local bookstore.

check out chapteread.com - it's a writing site and they explain publishing - there is a link called the "publishing process" and it's at the top of the site -- can't miss it!
