Is a 27 ACT score good?

I see that a lot of people seem to get 27s, so is it the average score? Should I retake the ACTs? I really don't want to because I'm taking the SATs over again to get higher, and then this is another, what, $40? These tests are expensive and I only want to take this over as a last resort. So, is 27 a good score or is it in the middle? Thanks in advance.

The average is around a 20 or 21... nationally. Different states have different averages.. Illinois' is around 19..

If you think you can get a point or two higher, go for it. Study your heart out and do it, because getting a higher ACT score by one or two (or more) can vault you ahead of thousands of applicants to a school that you want to get into.
