Opies mom in the Andy Griffith show.....?

Actually, the very first episode, where Aunt Bea, arrives to live with Andy and Opie, make reference to her having passed away. But it does not mention a name for her.

The refers to her only once, just after Andy greets Aunt Bea, upon her exiting the cab that has brought her to the Taylor home, as Andy picks up Aunt Bea's luggage.

I have only seen this episode twice in my life. It does not seem to be a popular addition to any of the television syndication packages, or perhaps they just don't show the episode. But it also makes mention that Aunt Bea is not the first person to take care of the Taylor's. The person who previously lived with them (Rose) and took care of Opie, departed (got married), and Opie, at first, resents Aunt Bea's presence in the Taylor home.

That was the only time when Opie's mom was mentioned was the first episode.

The Partridge Family was the same way where the children's father was mentioned once in the opening episode in the narration of the introduction of the show that Shirley Partridge's husband suddenly died. From that point on it was like he never existed.

The show was trying to be cutting edge for it's time...dad raises his son (with the help of Aunt Bea of course).

She ran off with another guy that was way cooler than Andy. Any time her name was brought up it evoked feelings of rejection, sadness, and failure on Andy's part.
