How can any monotheistic religion "appreciate" others views if they follow their religion correctly?

Obviously the belief is there is only one god and the only right way to live for all people is the teachings from their righteous book. All others are either misguided or evil?

Would I be correct then if you can appreciate other people’s views concerning “God’s” plan then you are not following your choice in faith correctly?

There is only one way to heaven.

Everyone thinks they hold the truth. They don't realize that it's mainly geography.

There is, imho, a difference between appreciate and understand. There also is a great deal of good in other religions; any Christian who tells you that Buddhism, for example, is completely evil is misguided as well. The only thing "evil" about many religions is that they exclude John 14:6. There is, as you say, only one way to heaven. However, and this is where the problem arises, there are many ways to live a good life here on Earth. Disregarding the fact that "all our righteous acts are as filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6), to the world they are still righteous acts (that the Christian knows are worthless without Christ's sacrifice).

    Have a great day!

This is why "religion" is not God's work but is only the work of man. Religion causes man to hold disdain for others of other religion instead of creating unity as God wants. Organized religion is and has been the best tactic that Satan ever created to sow hate and chaos. Look at the history of religion. Because it destroyed Europe during the wars between the 2 major religions during the middle ages to the 17th century, is the reason that Europeans hate religion. If you know what the outcome of those wars were, you'd understand their disdain for religion.

The best religion is what one does TO or FOR other people without regard for any sect and a rejection of ALL sects. Religions are sects.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was not a president of the United States - at no time in his life did he hold public office. He was not a hero of foreign wars. He never had much money, and while he lived he was reviled at least as much as he was celebrated. By his own accounts, he was a man frequently racked with doubt, a man not without flaws, a man who, like Moses before him, more than once questioned why he had been chosen for so arduous a task - the task of leading a people to freedom, the task of healing the festering wounds of a nation's original sin. And yet lead a nation he did. Through words he gave voice to the voiceless. Through deeds he gave courage to the faint of heart. By dint of vision, and determination, and most of all faith in the redeeming power of love, he endured the humiliation of arrest, the loneliness of a prison cell, the constant threats to his life, until he finally inspired a nation to transform itself, and begin to live up to the meaning of its creed. Science investigates; religion interprets., These two are not rivals.Science keeps religion from sinking into the valley of crippling irrationalism and paralyzing obscurantism. Religion prevents science from falling into the marsh of obsolete materialism and moral nihilism.

if by "appreciate" you mean tolerate, they can do it if it is part of their religion.

Obviously you are thinking of Christianity and only Christianity. Obviously you haven't heard of other religions like Buddhism which doesn't believe in a creator God and appreciates the fact that it can tolerate other religions.

Sorry to sound rash, but that's the truth of the matter. If you want the straight, hard facts, you'll get them served on a cold platter, mate. But if you ease up and ask nicely, the rhetoric will be much nicer coming from the other side as well.

    Cheerio.

''In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.'' --- John 1:1

St. John's theology of the Word (Greek ''Logos'') echoes back to Genesis, which records that God created all simply by speaking, but it also acknowledges Gentile wisdom. The Greek philosopher Heraclitus (535 - 475 BC) used the word ''logos'' in the sense of an ''ordering principle for the universe.'' The ancient Stoics developed this idea later, and taught that the universe was permeated with the ''logos,'' the ''divine logic'' that gave order and rationality to all things. In Stoicism, this ''logos'' was in all mankind (''In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.'' --- John 1:4).

I certainly wouldn't accuse the Apostle John of following the Christian faith incorrectly, but it appears to me that he had at least some kind of ''appreciation'' for outside views.

    Peace,

    Drew

You are right all monotheistic religions have intolerance built in.

By the way, Buddhists even accept atheists like me and I think once the West realise what a great philosophy Buddhism is it will rocket in popularity.

This can solely, be attributed to God, who calls the all the shots since it is His Devine Plan for mankind, started the "ball" rolling (implementation) and set the rules for worshipping Him. I never read within that book you deemed as "righteous", that there is another way to play the "game" of eternal life. God is not interested in either, your's nor mine point of view. Although God loves us ALL, He has predetermined before the course of time has started how the "game" will be enacted. "Yes"; there is "one way to heaven" and that's GOD'S Way not your's nor mine - after all, is both said and done ... it is God's "game" not yours nor mine.

    As a Christian, I don't.

Muslims are Monotheistic....There faith tells them to kill whoever does not believe what they believe. Christianity does not say that. It says to love your enemy's and pray for those who do not believe.

I don't appreciate other views but I respect the person who believes it.

Why do you need monotheist to "appreciate" other views?

I see the need to have other views, but , for me, that would be like me telling you that the Lakers actually won the Finals, and me asking you to "appreciate" that as truth as well.

If they really believe in only one god and one truth then they do not appreciate others religions. In fact all other religions are hell bound.
