What would cause my vision to look like I'm looking though a prizm.?

Definitely talk to your optometrist about this! I doubt it's ASTIGMATISM, because I have that myself, and usually your entire field of vision is affected w/that, not just one corner of your eye.

Make an appt with him/her ASAP, OK? Because you don't feel any pain right now doesn't mean that it'll stay that way in the future. You only have 2 eyes for your entire life, so make sure to take care of them properly! = )

You should see your general doctor first. Make sure it's not an infection (pink eye causes vision disturbances), a cyst in the tear duct, or anything of that nature. Then see an optometrist or better yet, an ophthalmologist to determine the cause (if the general physician cannot).

The answer below mentioned something I thought of as well, and that's migraines....but I'd dismissed it because you mentioned there is no pain. I have migraines and my vision blurs, turns into "prisms" and the like when a migraine hits. It's always accompanied with pain though. I've never heard of a painless migraine (I'd rather have those!) but that's definitely something to check out. Again, your general physician would be able to help you.

If this is a new thing, like since your last eye exam. Call your eye doctor immediately! It could be a detached retina & they can fix it. Or it might be problem caused by too much pressure in the eye. But it should be looked at immediately. Some major problems with the eyes do not cause any pain so it is best to be safe & get it checked.

It may be "astigmatism". Check it out with an optometrist. Do this whenever you have change in your vision, no matter how minor. Avoids a lot of trouble later on.

I have had the same thing and I was told it was a migraine without pain??

It never lasts long for me....I would go have it checked out though with your own optometrist

Your getting light refracted. I think I'd ask an eye doctor about that. Do you wear contacts??? Just your eye without lenses getting the prism effect???

It sounds like a "silent migraine." or ocular migraine. Does the lights start off small and get bigger until the lights are finally gone?

See an eye doctor. It could be nothing or it could be a torn or detached retina
