The Second Amendment is still intact. Now instead of taking away all the guns from the law abiding citizens so criminals will have a safe entry with their weapons into homes, we can defend ourselves. Buying hollow points, boys!

They stopped short of saying that the 2d amendment "right to bear arms shall not be infringed" means what it says, that the government must overcome a very high standard prior to enforcing ANY restrictions on that right.

All they really said was that D.C.'s restrictions were excessive.

As for Jim: we didn't have TV, radio, email, iPods, the Internet and blogs in 1776 either, yet nobody is saying such distributions are not a form of protected free speech. Just because you might not have any common sense, self-control or respect for the rights of others, it doesn't follow that everyone else is going out to buy a gun and shoot people unnecessarily.

The Supreme Court annoucned the obvious. Individuals have the right to keep and bear arms and Washington DCs gun ban was illegal.

    PS. Jim is a NUTS!

They overturned Washington D.C.'s ban on handguns ruling that the law was a violation of the people's Second Amendment rights in a 5-4 decision.

Unfortunately, I disagree. Give everyone in the city a gun and in one week, half the people will be dead.

I can't imagine what rush hour would look like if everyone packed a weapon.

I think the Supream Court is nuts. I think owning guns is nuts.

And I think the police agree with me that its going to cause a lot more violence, violent crime and dead police.

While you might be a "responsible" owner, there are plenty of irresponsible people and NUT CASES out there, who will pull a trigger before they even think.

This isn't 1775 when we need to form a militia and go fight the red coats and it isn't 1881 in the old west.

They interpreted the 2nd Amendment as the right to own guns for self- defense.

A gain for rural communities, where guns are intergrated into culture. (not in a bad way)

And a loss for urban areas where gun violence is on an all time high.

Source(s): personally, i interpret the 2nd admendment as a right to form militia.

They made Mayor Daley mad as hell, the Chicago cops too....

    Good !

As if the criminals obeyed the law and did not have guns.....The only one those laws hurt is the ordinary citizen

They said local governments cant take your guns

Source(s): Give everybody in the inner city a gun, and in one week the trouble makers will all be gone
