playstation 3 memory questions?
hello, I got one of the low end 40 gig PS3's and I was wondering a couple of questions on the hard drive. Like one, when my system intsalled MSG4 it took up around 4.5 gig on the install. I take it that only leaves me with around 36 gigs free correct. Now If I but a bigger hard drive, how in the hell do I take my save data and transfer it onto the new hard drive? Or would I be better off buying an external hard drive or do those even work. It just seems like to me that a handful of games can smoke out the entire hard drive real quick

why spend money on a playstation 3 when you can get it for free? just go to this site and complete a few quick tasks and they'll send you one - at no charge!

Ok, the PS3 has a backup utility just for the purpose of upgrading your hard drive. It should be under system settings. Access it and follow the instructions

when your referring to the game using 4.5gig its talking about the game itself. the saved data is much smaller. so get the bigger hard-drive if you want but all you need to do is copy the save data not the entire game to a SD card or similar.
then just transfer the data.
