In Kentucky, what charges might be brought against an 18 year old caught engaging in sex with a 15 year old?

He knew her very briefly and she told him she was 17. The act was consensual, but who can imagine what she will say, as her family found them and is now outraged. They were caught in the act, and her parents wish to press charges. What can happen?

The age of consent in Kentucky is 16. So he can be charged with statutory rape, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, immoral acts with a minor, child endangerment and a bunch of other charges depending on what the DA feels like pursuing. He should plead not guilty because the parents might not want her to testify and/or might not want the publicity. The girl also might refuse to testify.

I'm not 100% sure. Search the internet for Ky age of consent. I know in Ny, the age of consent is 17 and there is a 4yr age gap available. Which seems to be common in many states, so an 18 and 15 yr old would be able to and have no charges brought.

Next time, he should make sure he knows the girl better.

    Hope this helps.

None, In Kentucky the age of consent is 16, but it is a defense to prosecution that the younger party is 14 or 15, and the age difference is less than five years.

510.130 Sexual abuse in the third degree.

    (1) A person is guilty of sexual abuse in the third degree when:

    (a) He subjects another person to sexual contact without the latter's consent.

    (b) In any prosecution under this section, it is a defense that:

    1. The other person's lack of consent was due solely to incapacity to consent by reason of being less than sixteen (16) years old; and

    2. The other person was at least fourteen (14) years old; and

    3. The actor was less than five (5) years older than the other person.
