In Microsoft Word 2003, how do you switch off the insert function??

Sometimes I bump the insert button and it starts to eat up words when I need to add something or just change something, which is aggravating. Does anyone know how to undo this function besides shutting WORD down and reopening it???

Update:

Edit- Thanks guys!! I could have sworn I had tried that in the past and didn't think it worked. I was wrong. Now I know.

Try pressing the insert function again after you switched it on.

I have Word 2007 and when pressing the insert function it doesn't eat words/deletes anymore, but from what I remember when I had Word 2003, I just pressed the insert function again after I had switched it on and it would stop/turn off. So try that.

I hope that made sense and it works.
